Jen, It sounds to me like you are in need of a root canal, and hopefully not more than one. When you have an abscess on the gum -especially with pus in it- it is the infection from the root escaping through the only place it can, which would be the gums since it can't come out through the tooth. I would definitely suggest you see a dentist ASAP. The best case scenario would be to do the root canal from the back of the teeth and not have to ruin the veneers. You are lucky to not be experiencing any pain, it could just be a matter of time before it starts to hurt, or sometimes there is no pain associated with an abscess. Your situation sounds perfectly normal following an injury to the area, sometimes it may take years before you will have problems after trauma. Please feel free to come in and have us take a look to confirm if my suspicions are true. We are open Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Sincerely, Dr. Nancy Khalaf (415) 333-2308
