Porcelain Inlays: Porcelain Inlays and Onlays are used to restore an individuals back teeth that require a larger filling. If the broken or decayed part of a tooth is too large then a white filling is not always possible. Inlays are stronger than white fillings and are bonded on to the remaining tooth structure.
The process of customizing an inlay is similar to getting a filling. After the old is filling removed and if present, decay removed. Dr. Khalaf then creates a mold is made of the tooth. From this mold the lab constructs the patients inlay and the color is matched to the tooth.
A temporary inlay material is temporarily placed in the tooth until the lab has finished its work. It takes usually 10 working days before a patients inlay is back from the laboratory. The inlay is then bonded into the patients tooth (you may need to have anesthesia and/or nitrous oxide if your tooth is sensitive). Once bonded into place the tooth is strong and natural in appearance allowing for a beautiful smile.
Each inlay is hand made in a lab to match or fit an individuals existing teeth. There are several types of inlays available,
suiting different situations. Dr. Nancy Khalaf and staff will be more then happy to discuss your options should you need a inlay. Your smile matters to Dr. Nancy Khalaf the best cosmetic general dentist located off of Ocean Ave in San Francisco California.
